When I first came to the Boulevard of the Eagles over a decade ago, I asked everyone I could, “What’s great about Edison High?”  I knew that Edison traditionally is a community dedicated to their children’s education and had a staff capable of meeting the highest of expectations. I found out so much more and continue to be impressed with each coming year. We see individual moments in a classroom, community service projects, students helping each other academically, a counseling program that assists our young Eagles negotiate these trying times, but most of all it is our beloved community of students, staff, and family who come together to strive to be their best.

Our recent graduating class of 2022 met the challenge of coming back to in-person learning and worked to restart our traditions like Homecoming, Powder Puff, Fusion, African American History Assembly, and more. We continue to have excellent test scores and students passed 700  AP tests last year as a school, almost triple the number from 12 years ago.  Our graduates are heading off to some of the best colleges and universities in the country including Princeton, Rutgers, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Purdue, Penn State, TCNJ, NYU and more.  Others are choosing to serve our country in the armed forces. Our Alumni day brings back many of the students and helps reinforce the long term benefits of an Edison High education.

Newcomers to our district will find that EHS is a school on the rise where pride for the Red & Gold is ubiquitous.  Our widely diverse population is our version of 21st Century America.  Our students come together for many community service projects raising thousands of dollars for causes, local and global.  It is a regular occurrence for upperclassmen to reach out helping hands to their younger Eagles in academics and activities.

Our STEM Program continues to have an outstanding 100% AP passing rate and the Edison ACES program works to prepare first generation college students for their future.  Our music program is one of the most decorated in the state winning first place in national competitions in band and choir.  Our music tech, guitar and orchestra are not far behind and are examples of classical training molded with the 21st Century. Our dance program had Governor's Award winners and has been featured in the new York Times. We continue to have technical education as well with fully functioning auto and wood shops and a new STEM lab.

Athletically, we compete in the GMC red or white divisions while Football participates in the Big Central Conference. Our Boys Lacrosse won the first ever Division Championship and our competition cheerleading team came in first in the state last year.  As they say, “you can’t hide, that Eagle Pride!”  Our athletes give back to younger students in the Edison District through the Heroes and Cool Kids program and our Unified Sports Program.

We have a wide array of extracurricular clubs and Honor Societies that provide opportunities for our students to broaden their experiences and demonstrate leadership. These clubs are as active, diverse, and energetic as our student population. Our award winning newspaper, the Eagle’s Eye, provides in depth looks into our school and community. The newly opened E-sports Arena provides opportunities for fun, competition, and student leadership.

Check our website, twitter, and Instagram regularly to see how we continue to expand on the people, programs and pride that make up “What’s Great about Edison High!”
